Rangers don’t look set to have a quiet end to the transfer window, whether that be related to incomings or outgoings. Efforts to bring in FC Hansa Rostock’s Ryan Naderi are ongoing for Danny Röhl’s side, with clubs also looking to take players from Ibrox.

AS Monaco have seen a loan plus obligation offer rejected for Djeidi Gassama, with Rangers not inviting the French club to try again.

Fenerbahçe, meanwhile, have set their sights on Youssef Chermiti, who only arrived from Everton in September. Crucially, despite being on the bench twice for the Toffees at the start of the season, Chermiti didn’t get any minutes.

That means the Rangers player would be eligible to move again should a transfer be agreed.

The Turkish club have been in the market for a striker for much of the window. Youssef En-Nesyri has been on his way out, although his move to Juventus has slowed.

Why Fenerbahçe have turned to Rangers

Jhon Duran could be another forward to leave Fener in the coming days. As potential replacements, players such as Everton’s Beto and Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta have been targeted.

Beto’s agent even travelled to Turkey, however, he returned home when Everton’s €20m asking price was baulked at.

There’s been no Fenerbahçe joy on either of those options. That’s seen them turn their attention to Rangers and Chermiti. Danny Röhl’s side have already knocked back one offer from the Istanbul club. Fener are set to send another bid to Ibrox.

Turkish journalist Erdem Akbaş reports Fener and Rangers remain in talks despite the first offer being rejected.

Now a second offer is on the way, although it may depend on the situations with Duran and En-Nesyri. At least one of those is likely to go, so Rangers should keep an eye on the inbox.
