Birmingham City are set to beat Coventry City and Stoke City to Abdoulie Manneh.
Earlier today, journalist César Luis Merlo reported Girona’s Jhon Solís is travelling to England on Monday for a Birmingham City medical. He also said the Colombian midfielder will sign a contract until 2028.
Chris Davies will be getting a 21-year-old midfielder who can play centrally or more defensively. That should help plug some of the gaps which have seen Birmingham City concede 36 Championship goals this season.
As well as Solís, the Blues are currently working on completing a move for Mjällby AIF’s Abdoulie Manneh.
That’s according to Fotboll Direkt, and they report the 21-year-old is on his way to join Birmingham City in the winter market.
Last month, claims from Sweden reported Coventry City and Stoke City interest, however, it’s their Midlands rivals who have won the battle.

Fotboll Direkt points out about Coventry City’s interest and adds that their Championship counterpart have now taken the lead. Whether that’s true or the Championship leaders just walked away isn’t clear.
Coventry City’s pursuit of Manneh turned into something of a farce, through no fault of Frank Lampard’s side. Stoke City appeared to be dragged in to try and push the financials higher, and it all got a little odd.
Chris Davis’ side have reached a verbal agreement with Mjällby. The source isn’t certain of the transfer fee but believe it’s around SEK 40m [€3.73m]. This indicates Birmingham City are signing Manneh on a permanent transfer.
The operation is so advanced that the Swedish outlet state that the player will undergo medical tests on Monday afternoon. Only the official announcement will then be pending for the English club to make Manneh’s signing official.
Manneh managed nine goals and three assists from 33 matches for the Swedish club last year.
Given what has happened between Manneh, Coventry City and Stoke in recent months, this one isn’t done until he’s holding the shirt.
