The more Matteo Darmian is left out of Manchester United’s matches, the more he’s the subject of speculation from the Italian media.
Both Inter Milan and Juventus have been linked to him for a while, and that’s the situation that Calcio Mercato are trying to clarify on Thursday.
They say the player’s wish is not to leave the English club, but as the interest from Italy reaches him, he already has an opinion on the club’s approaches.
Calcio Mercato claims that the Juventus option attracts him more, although Inter are offering him a more important role in the team. It’s not guaranteed he’ll have a secured place at the Old Lady, but the club is more attractive.
Inter have reportedly already attempted to sign the player on loan during the summer market, but the bid was rejected by Manchester United. The club are now expected to make another offer during the winter, which would put them in front of Juve in the race for the 26-year-old and maybe change his mind.
Matteo Darmian signed for Manchester United from Torino in 2015 for €18m. He made 39 appearances in his debut season under Louis van Gaal, being used both as a right-back and a left-back.
But José Mourinho clearly sees Antonio Valencia as his preferred option and Darmian has been struggling for minutes. The 26-year-old has only one appearance this season, playing the full 90 minutes against Feyenoord in the Europa League.
