Everton’s incoming owners The Friedkins have been accused of a ‘scandalous absence’ at Roma, where sentiment is very much against them.
La Roma 24 cover an editorial from Il Messaggero today in which The Friedkin Group are accused of abandoning Roma and the fanbase.
That editorial says someone has hidden the Italian club at this point, with some fans fearing it has been taken away forever. They want their club back, but the big question is who should intervene.
As far as they’re concerned the ‘toy’ that is Roma has been broken in the last year and there is a strong feeling that it will never be fixed.
The current ownership ‘has been absent for over 40 days’ only showing their face with some indirect actions, such as the dismissal of CEO Lino Souloukou, the purchase of Everton, a few words from director of football Florent Ghisolfi and the appointment of coach Ivan Juric.
In between that it has been nothing but ‘silences and absences’ from the American group while the fanbase are in a period of ‘great suffering’.
It’s a ‘scandalous absence’ from the ownership, who are also accused of showing a ‘touch of arrogance and contempt’ towards the team, the coach and above all the fans.
The feeling is that they don’t know where they want to go or whom they want to go there with, leading to a listless Roma and clear unhappiness from the fanbase.
The impending purchase of Everton might have something to do with that, although for now that is remaining in the background and just one of many problems the Roma fanbase have with their American owners.
