Dejan Lovren is very much enjoying the World Cup with Croatia. The country have impressed in Russia, winning all three of their group games.
Along the way, Croatia have scored seven goals and only conceded once.
Lovren has certainly played his part, with the Liverpool defender starting the matches against Nigeria and Argentina, and playing well, before coming on as a substitute against Iceland.
Croatia are set to face Denmark on Sunday July 1st, in the last sixteen of the World Cup, and Lovren has been speaking to his country’s Vecenji List newspaper ahead of the match.
He was inevitably asked about Liverpool losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final, and made it clear he’s eager to prove doubters wrong: “I wish I won the European title with Liverpool, and although some say it was our last chance, I’m confident we will be even stronger next season.”
Lovren will hope to be an important part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side next season, teaming up with Dutchman Virgil van Dijk.
Whilst there have been doubts about Lovren, the Croatian international will be determined to make sure Klopp doesn’t turn to another option for the Reds.
