Newcastle United could find themselves battling Saudi Arabia for Juventus youngster Matias Soule this summer, with the Saudi Pro League planning an ambitious attempt for him.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the Saudi Arabian clubs want to start targeting younger players as the next step of their development.
The plan is to target young, up and coming talent after targeting older players in their first big push to invest in football in the country.
The objective, if it is given the full approval, will see them targeting some of the best talent in Europe and Soule would fall into that bracket.
He was already targeted in January transfer last year, but Juventus turned down the approach and then sent him to Frosinone for the season, a move that has worked out well as he’s flourished and now has admirers around Europe.
Newcastle are one of them and a report earlier today indicated they were looking at a potential double deal for him and defender Dean Huijsen.
Saudi Arabia’s interest could be a spanner in the works, though, as they are planning a ‘very important financial offer’ for the player and Juventus to convince both into a deal.
That could suit Juventus perfectly as they need and want the money and are open to a sale, and the Saudi Pro League is ready to give them what they want.
Newcastle are less willing given they are bound by PSR and FFP issues at this moment in time, a fact that could put them behind in the race should it start to pick up.
