A week ago today, we covered claims from France which explained agents are trying to find a new club for Mauro Icardi in the winter market.
The 28-year-old isn’t a key starter for Mauricio Pochettino at PSG, and a change of clubs would likely see him get more minutes. On top of that, it was felt the drama in his personal life would be calmer if he moved somewhere a little less high profile.
According to the claims, agents were pushing the player towards Newcastle United, likely trying to get the Premier League club to bite and make an offer to PSG.
Whether Icardi would find the calm he apparently wants in Newcastle isn’t clear, but L’Equipe’s Friday edition have a little snippet on his future.
They say should a ‘satisfactory offer’ arrive in January then it’s unlikely PSG will reject it. There’s a suggestion €50m would do the trick, although if Newcastle or anyone else were to offer a little less, or a deal made up of a loan and a purchase clause then there’s surely a possibility PSG will listen.
Maybe Icardi is the kind of character to be tempted by being the King of Newcastle and leading the Magpies away from relegation. It would take Newcastle making an effort before we could all find out.
