As weeks go, this looks like being a pretty good one for Sandro Tonali. After a long spell on the sidelines, the midfielder can finally return, having served his ban for breaching gambling regulations.

It’s been a long road back for the midfielder, including repeated attendance at events in Italy aimed at rehabilitating the Newcastle United player, and spreading the word about the dangers of gambling… especially the unregulated variety.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has already spoken about this return being a fresh start for Tonali. The former AC Milan player will be set for huge backing from the Magpies faithful, but it’s not only on a domestic front that good news is on the way.

Calciomercato report that unless there’s any surprises between now and Friday, Tonali will be named in the latest Italy squad.

That’s despite the 24-year-old having been out of action for so long. Manager Luciano Spalletti is obviously a big fan and Calciomercato state Tonali will be named on his list.
