Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport is coming up with the latest news on the future of Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali.
The website says today was a ‘turning point’ in the betting case, following the decision on Nicolo Fagioli, as Tonali’s lawyers met with the federal prosecutors.
The Newcastle player is said to be going for a plea deal with the Italian authorities, and the objective now is for an agreement to be reached between his lawyers and the prosecution.
As has been reported in recent days, Tonali betting on Milan’s games would worsen the situation. Courier Dello Sport say a one year suspension plus a further six months of rehabilitation, with the midfielder being able to play during the latter, is a possibility.
The ‘white smoke’ for the plea agreement should be on the way, and the deal must be approved by FIGC president Gabriele Gravina.
Despite how big the investigation is, the report makes it sound like Tonali’s case is indeed coming to an end with the plea deal being submitted.
Following Nicolo Fagioli’s penalty of seven months, it now seems the Newcastle player is set to get an even worse verdict.
