In Norway and England it’s generally believed Manchester United have the best chance of signing Erling Haaland, but that’s not the stance being taken everywhere.
Bild reported on Monday that according to their information, a move to Old Trafford isn’t currently first choice for the player.
Salzburger Nachrichten echo that sentiment. They may be a better source to listen to than Bild on this, given they don’t have a dog in the fight, at least when it comes to an exit from Red Bull Salzburg.
The Austrian newspaper reports Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Friday trip for talks was ‘probably unsuccessful’ for Manchester United. It’s thought RB Leipzig, who Haaland had spoken to a couple of days earlier, have the best chance, and the player is attracted by the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund is also presented as an option, partly because of ‘the great atmosphere in the Signal Iduna Park, which is almost always full with 80,000 spectators’.
A stay at Red Bull Salzburg isn’t ruled out, although not presented as a likely option right now.
There’s every possibility Salzburger Nachrichten’s information is coming from the Austrian club and their side of a deal, and that could be why they’re pushing RB Leipzig as the favourite option right now.
