On Tuesday, we covered a report from Catalan newspaper Sport which explained Barcelona have a deal in place for Ruben Neves and will decide in the coming months whether to go through with signing the Wolves player.
Jorge Mendes, of course, was presented as being behind the operation and it was explained that should the Blaugrana decide to proceed then Neves would cost far less than the €50m Sport stated Wolves were asking for in the summer.
The idea was that the midfielder would arrive on loan, in the January window, with a purchase obligation which would be activated in the summer.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport has another article on the Wolves player and Barcelona. It’s stated Neves is the ‘most logical option’ as a signing to replace Sergio Busquets. The Catalan side are said to have a salary agreement with Mendes and also an agreement with Wolves on transfer fee.
In order to go through the deal, Barcelona will have to sell a player in the winter market.
These claims are slightly contradictory to what the same newspaper reported on Tuesday. What remains the same is an insistence the Neves deal is right there and waiting should Barca choose to go for it.
