Manchester City star Rodri is now getting some support from the Spanish media for some of the questions he had to answer this week.
With all the corruption scandal at the RFEF, the midfielder was quizzed about it during a press conference, and obviously tried to dodge the subject, as the players had nothing to do with it.
Now as Cadena Ser’s Manu Carreño made some comments on El Larguero, he pointed out that the Manchester City player should not have been targeted with that type of question.
“How sad to hear a player like Rodri, a star of European football both at Manchester City and with the Spanish national team, refer to the latest episode with this alleged corruption again pointing the finger at the RFEF in this resigned case.
“I imagine you don’t approach a game in the same way when you know that the spotlight is on those who run Spanish football in this way rather than on the players or the national team coach,” said Carreño.
The RFEF already fired some of the executives accused of corruption, while ex-president Luis Rubiales is out in the Dominican Republic, with no date of a return to Spain set.
The Spanish national team are today playing Colombia and then facing Brazil on Tuesday, both on friendly matches, but with so much media attention towards the RFEF, those games aren’t the local media’s main focus.
Rodri already has 37 matches played for Manchester City this season, and we’ll see whether La Roja will give him a rest or use him in both games.
