Celtic’s Benjamin Nygren says he’s unhappy with Brendan Rodgers’ exit from Celtic Park.
Fotbollskanalen spoke to the Sweden international about the ‘chaos’ at the Scottish club.
Celtic lost the Champions League qualifiers to Kairat Almaty in August and were demoted to the Europa League.
They are currently second in the league, seven points behind leaders Heart of Midlothian, with a game in hand. Celtic lost to the league leaders in October and a day later, Brendan Rodgers stepped down from his role as manager.
The Sweden international joined the Scottish Premiership winners from FC Nordsjælland in June.
When asked what the manager’s exit means to him, he said: “Sad of course. I liked him and thought he is a really good manager. He was a big reason why I went to Celtic.
“I got a really good feeling for him. He was really good. But I’ve had a lot of managers in my career and will probably have even more. I focus on what I can do and contribute what I can on the pitch.”
Celtic fans “care with all their hearts”
Martin O’Neill has been appointed as interim boss as Celtic’s search for a permanent manager is ongoing.
Celtic fans have been protesting against the club’s board, and many are unhappy with the business from last summer.
On this subject, Nygren explained: “There has been a lot going on around the club. Celtic is a very big club and has an enormous number of fans who care with all their hearts.
“We missed out on the Champions League place and lost a few matches. Then Brendan Rodgers resigned. So, there has been a lot going on around the club. But for me personally, it has still been good.”
When asked how he’s experienced all of that, he said: “That’s just how it is. It’s a big club and so many people care with all their hearts. I think that’s the beauty of the sport and that we have such a large following who care about and love Celtic. That’s why it’s a great honour to represent this club.”
