Dutch newspaper AD is reporting Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to return to Manchester United as an assistant manager to Erik ten Hag.
The Dutch coach has been linked with multiple managerial positions in recent months, and last week there were claims he was set to join Burnley.
That was quickly dismissed by the same newspaper group which is bringing these claims. AD say negotiations are ongoing but they sound very confident that this is a sure thing and the former striker will be back at Old Trafford soon.
Ten Hag is then expected to be given an extension on his contract, and will work with Ruud van Nistelrooy in the long term.
Presumably, the Dutchman will be assisting with attack and it can only be good for youngsters coming through art the club. The obvious beneficiary is Rasmus Hojlund, and the Denmark international is likely to be thrilled with the news.
