Over the past few months, there has been a fair bit of talk about Manchester United and Tottenham being interested in Kim Min-jae.
The centre-back was signed by Napoli to replace Kalidou Koulibaly, and he took to Serie A football like a duck to water, immediately imposing himself as one of the better defenders in the league under Luciano Spalletti.
This meant it didn’t take long for the transfer rumour mill to catch up, as Manchester United and Tottenham were both touted as potential destinations for the South Korea international, who took part in the World Cup with his national team.
Talk of a €45-50m release clause in his contract for the first couple of weeks in July sent a few tongues wagging, and transfer rumours sending him to England were rife.
Just yesterday, for example, it was said that Manchester United had met with his entourage in November to discuss a transfer, while Tottenham were said to be ready to pay the clause in full to acquire his services.
This has frustrated the defender, who, speaking to You Quiz and relayed by Calciomercato, tried to set the record straight.
He said: “There are a lot of transfer stories around me, but I’ve only been at Napoli for six months. I’ve avoided interviews, and one of the reasons that the rumours about me disturb me.”
