Sporting Club de Portugal manager Ruben Amorim has revealed what his son has asked him to do, amid all the speculation about a move to Liverpool.
SIC Noticias cover comments from the Sporting boss today as he continues to be linked with Liverpool as they plan for life after Jurgen Klopp.
Amorim is believed to be at the top of the wish list for Liverpool this summer after Xabi Alonso made it clear that he would be staying at Bayer Leverkusen.
The Spaniard had appeared to be the man the Reds wanted to succeed Klopp when he departs but his determination to see through what he’s started at Leverkusen has left them looking elsewhere.
Numerous reports have them moving for Amorim, who has earned plenty of plaudits for the work he’s done at Sporting in recent years.
Indeed, he and his side currently sit seven points clear of Benfica at the top of the Portuguese Primeira Liga table and it seems his son is determined for him to remain focused on that, now and in future.
“Even my son asks me for both things, but the important thing is for Sporting to be champions. That’s what the fans want and that’s what we fight for,” he said when asked about the subject.
Liverpool fans will be hoping Amorim can persuade his son that a move to England isn’t so bad really.
