Manchester City star Rodri desperately tried to get a second opinion which was less severe on Monday, as the Manchester City star faces a season on the sidelines, according to El Desmarque.
The Spain international picked up a knee injury in Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal on Sunday. A day later, he made a trip to Barcelona to visit Dr. Ramon Cugat.
Former Spain international Kiko Narváez has explained Manchester City fitness coach Lorenzo Buenaventura travelled with the midfielder to Barcelona.
El Desmarque journalist Nuria Cruz then went on to share an interesting development in this case. She states the 28-year-old, after arriving in Barcelona, then made a trip to Madrid on Monday.
This was done to get a ‘second opinion’ from different doctors in the Spanish capital. He was eager to know the outcome of the damage through fresh tests in Madrid.
Cruz says the test results have shown Pep Guardiola is likely to be without Rodri for a long time.
“He travelled to Madrid to find out more about his injury. Yesterday there was optimism but today the first tests have determined that there is a torn cruciate ligament. He will miss the rest of the season,” she said.
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has also sustained a serious knee injury in his side’s league win over Villarreal at the weekend. Narváez believes Rodri’s setback isn’t “as serious” as the goalkeeper’s.
“Then you have to look at the recovery times of each human being,” Narváez explained.
