Roberto Mancini has been out of a job since parting ways, by mutual agreement, with Inter Milan in August. The former Manchester City boss probably deserves something of a break, but it sounds like he’s now considering returning.
Speaking to France’s Telefoot (via Calciomercato) Mancini was asked about managing PSG one day and certainly sounded like he was talking himself up for the possibility.
Having to acknowledge that PSG are currently managed by Unai Emery, the former Manchester City manager said: “PSG has never contacted me. In football anything can happen, it is a strange world. PSG are playing well and has a good coach, let’s see what happens in the future. Paris is very beautiful, PSG is a great team.”
Touching on his last job, and possibly a reason behind the departure, Mancini explained he’d wanted to sign Samir Nasri from Manchester City. Nasri was linked repeatedly with Inter, but ended up going on loan to Sevilla, where the Frenchman has excelled.
It could have all been very different, and Mancini said: “I could have taken him to Inter last summer, but he was too expensive.”
The former Manchester City manager also revealed he was keen on Edinson Cavani, both whilst at Inter Milan and at City. For the best players he’s ever managed, Mancini picked Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero.
