Kalidou Koulibaly appears to have confirmed a move to Chelsea is progressing after reports of a €40m bid from the Blues.

Reports earlier today made it clear that Chelsea, who are hunting around Europe for replacements for Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, had made a move for the Napoli defender.

He had been linked over the last week or so, with a move away from the Italian side looking likely this summer after he made it clear he’d like to move on.

Juventus had also been in the picture for the Senegalese star, but his loyalty to Napoli has ruled out such a switch, putting Chelsea at the front of the queue for his signature.

A €40m bid could be enough to tempt Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis and the player has now hinted things are looking good.

Journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin reports the defender as saying, “I’ll confirm that later but it’s on the right track”, when he asked him about a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

That suggests things are progressing how he would like them to, at least, which we’ll take as a positive for Chelsea at this point.

Of course, De Laurentiis is a tough negotiator, to say the least, so expect some hurdles in the coming days as negotiations really heat up between the two clubs.
