Sunderland failed to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Ayman Kari in the summer window.

On deadline day, we covered claims from France that the Black Cats were pushing behind the scenes to secure the 19-year-old’s services. It was also said Sunderland had entered into talks to sign him on a loan deal.

Le10 Sport now mentions Sunderland were one of the clubs who wanted to snatch Kari away from PSG.

The midfielder was on loan at FC Lorient last season, where he clocked in 918 minutes from 15 games. His game time was restricted mainly due to two different injuries.

There was an expectation for the France U19 international to be part of Luis Enrique’s plans. That didn’t happen and the manager hasn’t even included him in the matchday squad so far this season.

Le Parisien, relayed by Le10 Sport, state the player ‘returned overweight’ to PSG, after his loan spell.

They further add he wasn’t very motivated, likely during pre-season training. This clearly hasn’t pleased the former Barcelona man, who decided not to consider Kari at Parc des Princes.

Either a bullet dodged for Sunderland, or a chance to get him easily in the next window.
