Manchester United left-back Alex Telles has now tested negative for Covid-19, according to reports from Brazil this afternoon.

UOL claims that the player is now cleared to join the squad which is flying to Uruguay for the next World Cup qualifying match.

Telles tested positive at the weekend, but since he’s considered to be in the final stage of carrying the virus, and the result was likely due to his previous infection, there was no concern about infecting other teammates. That’s why the fullback has been training normally with the squad.

He was tested again on Sunday night, and this one came out negative. The reason why the new result was so important is because Uruguay wouldn’t let him enter the country with a positive test.

Alex Telles is Brazil’s second option for the left-back position, as Atletico Madrid’s Renan Lodi is expected to start again. Tite had called in Atlético Mineiro’s Guilherme Arana as a back-up for the Manchester United player, but it now seems he won’t be needed.

As the Red Devils had released a statement today saying they were keeping an eye on Telles’ situation, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can now rest assured that Telles should be available for the next match against West Brom at the weekend.
