Edson Alvarez had to leave the pitch in the first half as Mexico played their first Copa America game against Jamaica.
The West Ham player was seen to be in some distress as he left the pitch, and that’s obviously caused some concern regarding a potential serious injury.
Record Mexico report the midfielder is set to miss the rest of the Copa America, but they calm down suggestions that further tests could show a serious issue.
Alavrez is said to have injured his biceps femoral, which is a hamstring injury. Record Mexico go over other reports which suggested further examinations may reveal something nasty.
However, they make a point of saying the Mexico national federation have made it known they don’t believe the West Ham player has suffered a serious injury.
That would of course be a relief to Julen Lopetegui ahead of the new season, and he’ll want Alavrez available for preparation as soon as possible.
