Leeds United have seen several of their first team players move elsewhere post relegation and exits are still possible to clubs where the transfer window remains open.
The Belgian window closes on Wednesday and Club Brugge have identified Leeds’ Pascal Struijk as a defensive target.
That’s according to today’s Het Nieuwsblad, who state the Jupiler Pro League side have studied several options, including that of the Whites centre-back, in recent weeks.
It’s explained that the Jupiler Pro League side have decided not to bring in more players even though the window is still open. That’s partly because they failed to qualify for the Champions League and therefore finances are now tighter.
In addition to this, Club Brugge don’t want to block the development of the young duo of Jorne Spileers and Joel Ordóñez. Should they still need a new centre-back, the report says they could look to strengthen that position in January.
Club Brugge’s decision to not take further steps to try to sign Struijk or another centre-back will disappoint their fans and at the same time, it will please both Daniel Farke and Leeds.
Struijk has two goals from seven games this season for the Championship side.
