French website La Provence have linked Aston Villa star Jordan Amavi with a move to Marseille for a few weeks now.
Currently playing in the Championship, in France Amavi had been expected to want out of Aston Villa, but that’s not proven to be the case.
Aston Villa are also reluctant to sell Amavi, and French newspaper L’Equipe have an update on his future. It’s been reported Amavi was a target from Marseille in January, and the Ligue 1 club were prepared to send an offer to Aston Villa.
In fact, Marseille leaders have even tried to contact the player, but their hopes of bringing the 22-year-old back to France in January have been dented by the player himself.
L’Equipe say Amavi has decided to stay at Aston Villa at least until the end of the season, and the newspaper even spoke to one of his close relatives who confirmed the same.
“It is very gratifying to receive this interest on the part of Marseille but, today, Jordan wants to do an entire season in England in order to regain the integrity of his physical state.”
That makes sense, considering the player missed most of last season due to a ligament injury. However, L’Equipe haven’t ruled out a transfer in the summer, saying Amavi especially appreciates the Premier League, but would also consider an offer from Marseille.
The Aston Villa player seems to have a maturity beyond his years and perhaps a loyalty missing elsewhere.
