West Ham United midfielder Edson Álvarez believes he has the trust of manager David Moyes, and that’s helping him to perform even better for the Hammers.
Álvarez has been speaking to Paramount +, relayed by Medio Tempo, about life at the London Stadium after he arrived from Ajax in the summer.
The Mexican joined West Ham in a €38m deal after a four-year spell at Ajax following a move from Club America in July 2019.
He had proved to be a key player for the Dutch side and has quickly set about establishing himself in London too, with 25 games in all competitions under his belt so far.
Álvarez initially started the season out of the picture, missing the opening game against Bournemouth before only managing a nine-minute appearance in the win over Chelsea eight days later.
However, he has been a regular in the team from that point onwards, establishing himself in West Ham’s midfield and helping them to quickly move on from Declan Rice.
To do so he had to earn the trust of Moyes, something he at least believes he has done, insisting their relationship is getting better by the day.
“The relationship with (Moyes) is growing day by day, the trust he has in me and that we have created is increasing,” he said.
“With my performances on the pitch I think I give him enough weapons to continue doing it and the relationship is going well.”
