Tottenham Hotspur’s attempt to sign Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid in the summer has been covered again by Spanish outlet Marca.
The website features a story to explain the negative season the player has been having, as despite being used to standing out for the Colchoneros, he’s actually been far too discreet in the past few months.
Marca recalls that at the end of the transfer window, Tottenham wanted to trigger Carrasco’s release clause, which stands at €60m. Back then, Atletico closed the door, feeling they\d already done their summer business, and stopped the star from leaving.
However, with Carrasco having one goal and no assists this season so far, there are those who ‘regret’ having turned down Spurs’ attempt.
Marca make it clear that the winger’s season has been so disappointing that he goes ‘unnoticed’ wherever he plays.
So if Tottenham still kept any desire to sign Carrasco, the January window could certainly offer a good opportunity for it, especially because his poor form could end up convincing Atletico to accept a smaller price for his departure.
