Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has admitted he has one major regret from his playing career, not joining Real Madrid from Arsenal when he had the chance.
Vieira is considered one of the best to play in the Premier League after his nine year stay with Arsenal between 1996 and 2005, during which he made 406 appearances for the club in all competitions and won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three Community Shields.
He eventually departed for Juventus, staying there for a year before moving to Inter Milan in 2006 and adding another four Serie A crowns to his collection as well as other domestic trophies.
He eventually ended his career back in England with Manchester City in 2011 before moving into management, taking charge of their EDS side.
A move to America with New York City FC followed before Nice and then Crystal Palace, where he has been since 2021 and impressed thus far.
One place his career is yet to take him is to Spain, something the Frenchman is clearly disappointed by, revealing the major regret from his playing days is not accepting an offer to join Real Madrid from Arsenal.
“I had no reason to leave Arsenal,” the Crystal Palace boss told BeIn Sports France, relayed by Bernabeu Digital.
“I was happy, and we were competitive. But if I have to go back and change something, not agreeing to join Real Madrid is my only regret.”
