While he didn’t start the game against Manchester City, Manchester United’s Antony still wasn’t able to escape criticism for his performance from the bench in the local derby.
It comes from pundit Suleyman Ozturk in the Netherlands, who was speaking on Voetbal International Uncensord, relayed by MSN, about the game, and he honed in on the Brazilian.
The forward has immensely struggled to live up to his huge transfer fee following last season’s transfer, and the fact Erik ten Hag decided to leave him on the Manchester United bench for such a fixture says a lot about where he stands in his plans at this moment in time.
Ozturk said: “Antony was allowed to come on for a while and he really does everything wrong. He also got a 2 from the MEN, and a two is low, but you couldn’t give him another rating. Nothing works and then it is painful that City play so incredibly well and play the ball around 850 times in the last 10 minutes.
“Ten Hag also said afterwards that United were pretty okay in performance and that they had performed well as a team, and of course there was a strange reaction to that, because it looked like one big rondo.”
To show just how bad things are going for the €95m forward, he has one goal and one assist in 28 appearances for the club this season, with both those contributions coming in the 4-2 win against Newport County in the FA Cup.
His last start in the Premier League was in the 2-1 loss against Nottingham Forest all the way back on December 30th, with him not even seeing the pitch against Aston Villa and Luton Town.
