In the last few days, the Norwegian press has been quite confident that Aston Villa are about to sign Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan.
This came after the British press reported about it and as things stand, the transfer seems to be going in the right direction.
Many in Norway are buzzing about the move and former international Pal Andre Helland has now expressed high praise for the talent’s transfer to Aston Villa.
He spoke to VG about it and stated that it is a major achievement that Nypan is moving directly to the Birmingham club instead of heading to the Netherlands or Belgium first.
He said: “Then everyone had to take the step via the Netherlands or Belgium. This transfer says a little about Nypan’s potential and where he is now.
“It is also a real pat on the back for RBK [Rosenborg] who is developing a player who goes directly there.”
When asked about the potential transfer fee, Helland claimed that Aston Villa are likely to pay around £14m for the talent.
“I think it will be around 200m Kroner the way the pound and euro are now. If it is £20m or €20m you are way over, but if I put the list around 200m Kroner I think I am not that far off.”
He also believes that Nypan is making a very well-thought decision in joining Unai Emery’s side and praised those around him for it.
“Then they don’t go for the name, but for the club they have the best impression of. It is visible proof that the family is making sensible choices.”
Despite being only 18, Nypan has played over 60 times for Rosenborg and that speaks volumes for his abilities.
Considering how someone like Lucas Bergvall has come directly from Scandinavia and has settled in excellently at Tottenham, Aston Villa can be confident that Nypan will not have too many problems in coming into his own in Birmingham.
