Real Madrid are keeping an eye on Leeds United youngster Mateo Joseph and plan to watch him in the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

That’s according to Fichajes, who today list five youngsters that the Spanish giants are planning to watch at the upcoming tournament.

They explain that Real Madrid have their eyes on five players as they continue to bet on the long-term strategy of targeting youngsters for the future.

That means extensive scouting and there are five names in particular that ‘will be closely watched’ by their scouts during the tournament in Argentina.

Fichajes report that Leeds United youngster Mateo Joseph is one of those on their radar, with it explained he is ‘in Real Madrid’s plans’.

They explain that despite his young age, the forward has ‘generated interest’ since his time at Espanyol, where he made his way up through the various youth ranks before joining Leeds’ U21 set up in January last year.

He’s since impressed in England with a tally of 18 goals and two assists in 30 games for the U-21s, as well as making six appearances for the first team.

That’s apparently seen Madrid pick up on him and he is now on their radar, so much so he’ll be getting scouted during his time in Argentina.
