Do you remember when transfer figures were reasonable? When someone paying anywhere upwards of £30m for a player was a shock?
That’s long gone thanks to the likes of Kakà, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, and Le Parisien in France reckon it could get even crazier in the future.
The reason for that is Real Madrid and their complete and utter obsession for the aforementioned Frenchman, who has now entered the third year of his five-year contract at Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Le Parisien, the La Liga side and Florentino Pérez have made the 20-year-old their ‘absolute priority’ for the summer of 2020 and have ‘budgeted’ an offer of €300m for Mbappé.
However, they state Real Madrid are also aware of the potential competition they might face from other wealthy clubs, mentioning Manchester City and Barcelona with question marks after them (suggesting they could be part of it but without stating there is interest there).
Either way, Real Madrid have accepted the fact Mbappé would become the most expensive transfer of all time if they buy him, and they’re fine with that.
However, Paris Saint-Germain won’t just roll over, as they’ve made it clear they don’t want to let him go and have a ‘pharaonic’ contract offer ready for him.
They just need him to sign it.
