Liverpool have recruited several players so far this summer, but there’s been no huge spending at the club. There’s still the possibility that Jurgen Klopp could end up in profit for the summer transfer window, which isn’t as great news as it sounds.
With other Premier League clubs investing hugely in their teams, Liverpool face a huge task to break into the top four. Maybe the renewal of Anfield is taking some of the pennies away, or perhaps Klopp has an absolutely crazy transfer up his sleeve.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo report on Tuesday that several clubs have shown some interest in James Rodriguez. And whilst the usual names are trotted out, Liverpool are thrown in there too.
It’s not just an afterthought. Mundo Deportivo say Liverpool have made their interest known. That would mean contacting either Real Madrid or Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent.
Despite that it’s stated that Liverpool simply wouldn’t be able to satisfy the financial wishes of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.
Mundo Deportivo is a Catalan newspaper so may well be stirring the Madrid pot, but the mention of Liverpool is unusual for a James Rodriguez story.
