Tottenham Hotspur can part ways with Guglielmo Vicario and replace him with Napoli goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić this summer.

Vicario joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023 and has been their No.1 since then. That may no longer be the case under Roberto De Zerbi next season.

Over the past few months, the Italian media have constantly discussed the 29-year-old’s desire to return to Serie A.

Inter Milan have ruled out a move while Juventus are looking at the Tottenham man as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martínez. The Naples club can also be an option.

At the weekend, the Italian media discussed the idea of a swap deal involving Vicario and Milinković-Savić. The duo’s valuations are believe to be similar.

Napoli exploring swap deal with Tottenham

Two days ago, it was only an idea in Italy, mainly because Vanja Milinković-Savić’s future remains uncertain.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side didn’t make an approach or weren’t planning to contact Spurs to discuss a potential swap deal.

That could now happen according to journalist Ciro Venerato, relayed by Tutto Napoli. He is a Napoli expert and has been discussing the 29-year-old Serbian and the Italy international for Rai.

Venerato claims Napoli are considering the possibility of an exchange involving Milinković-Savić and Guglielmo Vicario.

The swap operation can heat up ‘under the right conditions’, meaning if the valuations suit both clubs. There will be better clarity on the feasibility of this deal in the ‘coming days’.

Another outlet, Il Napoli Online, have shared more updates from Ciro Venerato on Vanja Milinković-Savić and Guglielmo Vicario.

“A swap between Vanja Milinković-Savić and Guglielmo Vicario is being considered. Napoli are ready to begin negotiations with Tottenham,” he said.

The journalist only covers what Napoli are considering, without mentioning whether Spurs are open to this option.

Transfermarkt value the Serbian, who has a contract until 2030, at €20m. Vicario’s deal lasts until 2028, and the same website value him at €18m.
