Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk has found himself being praised in Italy for a recent interview in England talking about manager Roberto de Zerbi.
Journalist Paolo Del Genio has been praising the Brighton defender, relayed by Area Napoli, after being impressed by comments from the centre-back in an interview in England.
Dunk recently praised the effect manager Roberto de Zerbi’s style of football and management has had on him so far since he arrived to replace Graham Potter at the beginning of last season.
The Italian has seemingly taken Brighton to the next level by building on what Potter left behind, introducing a more attacking and exciting style of football that has catapulted them forwards and into Europe.
Dunk certainly falls into that category and admitted as much in recent comments, saying he now sees the game in a completely different way thanks to the Brighton manager.
Del Genio was more than impressed by the comments, saying they show just how good De Zerbi is proving to be.
“Dunk, captain of Brighton, for me a decent defender and nothing more, talks about De Zerbi’s football in an interview that for football fans is a rare commodity,” he said.
“For a long time on radio and TV I have been talking about pressing provoked as the main idea to always develop from the bottom with some small risks yes, but with many more possibilities of development that easily leads to creating goal balls.
“Read what Dunk says. The value of a coach is also given by this, by how much he is able to make one of his players ‘feel at ease’.”
