On Thursday, Cadena Ser reported Deportivo de La Coruña is set to be Newcastle United’s Antonio Cordero next destination.
Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain that Deportivo are looking to sign him on loan in the winter market.
El Ideal Gallego provide the latest on the Spanish club’s pursuit of the Newcastle United players.
Newcastle United signed Cordero for free in June and sent him on loan to KVC Westerlo in August. The temporary move hasn’t worked out and he’s played less than 100 minutes so far.
The Magpies are considering recalling the winger in January and sending him elsewhere. This is where the Segunda División side would come into the picture.
Deportivo are ‘close to reaching an agreement’ to sign the Spain U19 international on loan in the next window.
It isn’t specified whether Deportivo are close to agreeing terms with Eddie Howe’s side, Cordero or both.
According to the Newcastle United owned player’s entourage, his desire is to return to the Segunda División. Therefore, El Ideal Gallego report he’s rejected offers from other clubs, including some from La Liga.
Cordero wants to play in Spain’s second division in order to get regular minutes and regain his best form.
Deportivo are close to clinching an agreement in what has been a rapid transfer effort.
