Once seen as the future of Manchester United, Anthony Martial is now on the fringes of the squad at Old Trafford.

Starting just twice in the league so far, the Frenchman only has one goal to his name this season, and with Ralf Rangnick now in charge, it remains to be seen if he has a future at the club.

His agent has made it clear that Martial needs to leave Manchester United in the near future, and the German manager has since replied to that, stating: “I don’t communicate with agents through the media. The player hasn’t spoken to us or me about this”.

However, a few clubs have already ‘manifested their interest’ regarding a loan in January, according to RMC Sport, with Lyon, the club that formed him as a youngster, being one of them.

Despite this, the Ligue 1 side are currently struggling with ‘sporting difficulties’, meaning bad results, and this ‘represents a strong hurdle’ for them to overcome in their bid to get the Manchester United man.

We’ll have to wait and see, but it seems that while his transfer wasn’t quite £50m down the drain, it’s going to be hard for Martial to score again in a red shirt going forward, with an exit in January seemingly the right move for all involved.
