Fanatik claim Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel will wait until the end of the season to talk about a contract extension with his club.

The player will be out of contract with the Istanbul club in the summer and subsequently he’s again been linked with a move to Rangers.

During the last summer transfer window it was claimed Skrtel was being tracked by Rangers as Steven Gerrard looked for a reunion with his former Liverpool teammate.

According to Fanatik, Rangers ‘won’t let go’ in their pursuit of signing Skrtel, and it’s stated Gerrard is working to convince him to move to Ibrox.

However, it seems the Scottish club will need to be patient following these latest reports that the Slovak will only made a decision on his future in the summer

Skrtel has reportedly told the Super Lig club, as paraphrased by Fanatik: “We need to get out of the relegation zone first before talking about a new contract. I am only focusing on the next matches. For contract, we will sit down and talk at the end of the season.”

The Slovakian international has been constantly linked with a return to British football in recent months and along with Rangers he’s also been pushed towards West Ham United and Southampton.
