As Benfica make their final preparations for the Europa League clash against Rangers tonight, the Portuguese media reports that manager Roger Schmidt still has some doubts about his team selection to face Philippe Clement’s men.
Newspaper Record today features a piece claiming the manager still doesn’t know how to line up his attack at Ibrox, as he ‘rehearsed two solutions’ for this game.
It’s said the manager is still not sure whether to line-up centre-forward Arthur Cabral against Rangers, in a scenario that would add strength, or to add another player that would give them more mobility.
Despite this small doubt from the coach, the newspaper makes it clear that Benfica have some good news for the match at Ibrox, as they’ll have some reinforcements for this match.
The likes of Urkun Kocku and Alexander Bah, who missed the first clash in Lisbon, are both set to return to the team. The same goes for Fredrik Aursnes, who left last week’s game in pain.
That means the only major absence Benfica will have against Rangers is Juan Bernat, who remains sidelined with pubalgia.
We’ll see how Schmidt will pick his side, but Philippe Clement will want to be prepared for every scenario.
