Rangers are working to sign a PSG youngster, according to claims coming from Spain.

Xavi Simons is in his final year of contract and a lack of first team opportunities at Paris Saint-Germain could convince his agent, Mino Raiola, to take his client elsewhere.

On November 17th, reports in Spain discussed Manchester City’s interest in the 18-year-old. Rangers have now become the latest club to come forward to sign the midfielder, according to AS.

The Ibrox club replaced Steven Gerrard, who left Rangers for Aston Villa, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst last month.

It’s claimed Van Bronckhorst is ‘so eager’ to have the Netherlands U19 international at his disposal in Glasgow, that Rangers are ‘considering making an offer’ to PSG in January.

The Scottish Premiership champions have made ‘informal contacts’ with Simons’ representative, who is looking for a new destination for his client. Rangers have conveyed to Raiola that they plan to make the teenager ‘cornerstone’ of the project at Ibrox.

Rangers, however, are not the only club after Simons. According to AS, Barcelona are in the picture to bring their former academy player back to the club.
