Fotospor claim Rangers are eyeing up Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Ghanaian striker initially joined the Turkish club on a loan deal from Leeds United last season and after some impressive performances they activated his €1m redemption fee.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard could look to bolster his attacking options during the next transfer window, with 37 year old Jermain Defoe out of contract at the end of the season.

According to Fotospor, Rangers also see the former Leeds United man as an alternative to Alfredo Morelos should the Colombian leave the Ibrox club.

Lazio are also said to be interested in signing the Ekuban and the Turkish club are hoping to generate at least €10m from his sale.

This season Ekuban made an excellent start but he spent a long period on the sidelines due to injury. Following his return, the 25 year old has picked up where he left off and has again become an important member of Huseyin Cimsir’s team.

Ekuban has mainly been playing as a right-winger or attacking midfielder since joining the Trabzon side from Leeds United.

This season he’s made 24 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing six assists. His contract with Trabzonspor will expire at the end of June 2022.
