Rangers manager Danny Röhl has seen James Tavernier leave Ibrox at the end of this season.
The Scottish club have to bring in a replacement for the experienced right-back this summer.
Rangers have set their sights on KVC Westerlo’s Bryan Reynolds as an option to replace Tavernier.
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Belgium of the Ibrox club’s interest in the right-back and making contact for a potential deal.
Both the Jupiler Pro League side and the American are open to his exit this summer. This should please Röhl’s side, who can secure his services if there’s a quick agreement.
Rangers make further advances
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a major update on Danny Röhl’s side.
He claims Rangers have submitted a bid worth around €2.5m, which suggests the fee also includes bonuses. KVC Westerlo have rejected it and are clear that Bryan Reynolds won’t leave for that price.
The fullback, for his part, has given the green light to make a switch to Ibrox. It’s now down to the Scottish Premiership side to find an agreement with the Belgian club. This is only possible if Rangers return with an improved bid.
The journalist makes no mention or even suggests of Westerlo’s asking price. However, he mentions the possibility of other clubs joining the transfer race. If this were to happen, it may help the Jupiler Pro League side collect more money.
Good relationship could benefit Rangers
In the winter market, the Ibrox club signed left-back Tuur Rommens from KVC Westerlo.
Former Rangers assistant manager Issame Charaï has been in charge of the Belgian club since June 2025.
Charaï’s presence and the Rommens deal would have helped Rangers maintain good ties with the club.
This in return could benefit Danny Röhl’s side to sign Bryan Reynolds, as long as they get close to Westerlo’s demand.
The American’s contract expires in 2027 and is valued at €3.5m by Transfermarkt. He played 3,584 minutes from 40 matches, managing two goals and four assists this season.
