Rangers’ Rıdvan Yılmaz was the subject of firm interest from Galatasaray in the winter market but Philippe Clement’s side were successful in keeping him at Ibrox.
The left-back has enjoyed a prominent role at Rangers this year and was called up by Turkey for this international break. The 22-year-old suffered an injury against Hungary and was forced to withdraw from the squad.
Yılmaz’s performances for Rangers have seen the Istanbul club consider returning for him in the summer.
That’s at least what Takvim are reporting, and they provide the stance taken by Philippe Clement’s side over the 22-year-old’s possible exit from Ibrox after this season.
Borna Barišić, who was a regular at Rangers, has lost his place to the Turkey international in recent months. The former’s deal lasts until June and recent claims have stated that he will leave as a free agent.
Faced with the possibility of losing Barišić, Rangers have decided to hold on to Yılmaz and continue to bet on him for next season.
Takvim say this is ‘bad news’ for Galatasaray, who had the desire to return for the fullback in the next window.
Yılmaz has two goals and an assist from 28 games for Rangers this season.
