Towards the end of December, Secolo XIX reported a Rangers offer for Genoa midfielder Emil Bohinen. Danny Röhl’s side have been linked repeatedly since then.

Curiously enough, the Norwegian has changed agents in recent weeks. That is usually a sure sign a transfer is on the way. Interest from Rangers was put forward by the player’s new entourage.

La Nazione gave Danny Rohl’s side hope of landing the midfielder by suggesting he prefers a move to Rangers over staying in Italy.

After initial optimism, hope may now be fading at Ibrox about landing Bohinen.

Quotidiano Sportivo report the 26-year-old will return to Genoa following his failed loan spell at Venezia. The Venice side are about to land Simone Panada, freeing up space for Bohinen to depart.

The player was initially excited by the idea of joining Rangers but ultimately, it is Spezia who are closing in on a deal.

The Spezia project has convinced the Genoa man, and the Serie B side now expect to finalise the move. The deal will likely be an initial loan with an obligation to buy. It is likely to go through when Venezia land Panada and let Bohinen return to the Rossoblu.

Intermediaries may have used Rangers’ name to secure a better deal from Italian sides. A move to Brox right now looks more attractive than Spezia.

The Italian club are 15th in Serie B and don’t look like fighting for anything. Spezia average less than 10k fans a game, but do have the advantage of being on the Italian coast.
