Amid claims that Rangers are interested in signing Josh Doig from Verona, there is also the idea that Ridvan Yilmaz could be leaving Ibrox in the near future.
That’s because he hasn’t been playing as much as he wanted under Philippe Clément, and the 22-year-old, wanting to get minutes under his belt, is seeking a move away.
Galatasaray have been said to be interested in the left-back for the January transfer window, but journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, speaking for Sports Digitale, believes the Rangers player has his eyes set on another move.
He explains that the Turkish club called the defender’s entourage ‘directly’ to ask them what the conditions for a move where and whether he wanted to head to Istanbul.
The opinion ‘was taken’ and an offer was even made, but Sabuncuoğlu explains that Yilmaz’ first port of call is ‘not to return to Turkey’.
In fact, Rangers are ‘in contact with two teams’ in Europe, with one of those being Verona, who have come and watched his last three games in person, giving ‘positive reports’ in the process.
The idea for Yilmaz is to find a team where he can ‘play regularly’, and he would prefer to do that with a team in the top five leagues.
However, where that to fail, he could then turn his attention to Galatasaray or any other clubs in his home country that may be interested in him.
In short, if Yilmaz is to leave Rangers, he is prioritising a move to Italy first, where Verona want him, and then potentially a move to Turkey if that doesn’t happen.
