Rangers’ Danilo has emerged as a new target for NEC Nijmegen, late in the winter market. Danny Röhl’s side could see him leave Ibrox before the window closes next Monday.
Earlier this month, the Dutch club saw Kento Shiogai leave them for VfL Wolfsburg. His exit has seen them look for a new striker before deadline day.
This is where the Rangers man comes into the picture. Multiple sources in the Netherlands are now covering the Eredivisie side’s interest in the striker.
Voetbal International state NEC Nijmegen are looking at the Rangers player to strengthen their attack for the second half of the season.
According to them, Röhl’s side are willing to let the Brazilian leave in this window. VI has not mentioned whether Rangers are looking to part ways with him permanently or via a loan transfer.
Dutch newspaper De Gelderlander are also reporting NEC Nijmegen’s interest in the 26-year-old.
Their manager, Dick Schreuder, will be without Youssef El Kachati. He picked up an injury and will be sidelined for months. This leaves him with Koki Ogawa as the only recognised striker at his disposal.
Therefore, the Eredivisie side have identified the Rangers player as the main candidate to improve their attack.
Rangers contract until 2028
Danilo has a contract at Ibrox until 2028. De Gelderlander report that if NEC Nijmegen were to reach an agreement with Rangers, it will be for a loan deal. There’s no mention of a purchase option or obligation in the report.
The South American knows the Eredivisie very well from his previous spells at Ajax, FC Twente and Feyenoord.
He is a product of Ajax’s youth system and spent two years with their first team before leaving for Feyenoord in 2022. A year later, the latter sold him to Rangers.
Danilo has scored four goals and contributed two assists from 28 matches this season.
