Rangers have reportedly been considering bringing Royal Charleroi SC’s Parfait Guiagon to Ibrox in the winter market. As well as Danny Röhl’s side, Norwich City have also been in the transfer picture.

225 Foot reported interest from the two clubs earlier this month. They stated Rangers and Norwich City were keen on signing the Ivorian winger.

The attacker can operate on both sides, although he’s been almost always on the left wing in recent years. A level of versatility was attracting Rangers, however, it was explained Norwich City were ahead of the Ibrox club.

Philippe Clement has been in charge of the Championship side since November, so the Rangers interest may lingered from his time.

According to 225 Foot, Norwich City would like to finalise the operation in this window.

This claim has been picked up in Belgium over the past 24 hours or so. With both Rangers and Norwich City dragged into the mix, La Dernière Heure decided to get in touch with the 24-year-old’s agent.

Agent dismisses move to Rangers or Norwich City

They claim the representative has denied his player is set to leave Charleroi in January. There’s no direct quote, just the message that as far as Parfait Guiagon’s agent is concerned, a winter isn’t on the agenda.

Agents dismissing transfer rumours isn’t the norm. Often, even if the claims are based on nothing, they’re allowed to ride and help improve the player’s profile. All of that can help when it actually comes to seeking a transfer, or when in talks for a new contract.

Whether Royal Charleroi SC got win of the Rangers claims and weren’t very happy is unknown. That would be one reason for the agent to dismiss them.

Guiagon has been with the Belgian club since 2023, playing 88 matches in total. He’s scored 20 goals and contributed 15 assists, of which seven goals and two assists are from this season.
