Danny Rohl’s Rangers take on SK Brann in the Europa League this evening. Ahead of the Rangers match, the Norwegian club’s manager Freyr Alexandersson has claimed his side could easily compete with Celtic and Hearts for the Scottish Premiership.
Derek McInnes has Hearts top of the table, five points clear of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic. Rangers are way down in 6th position and likely out of the title race already, hence Rohl’s arrival at Ibrox.
Freyr Alexandersson has spone to TV2 about the game, and that’s when his Scottish Premiership claim was made.
The manager was asked whether SK Brann are favourites for the tie.
“It’s a strong claim that we are favourites in the meeting with Rangers. My son tells me that we will never beat Rangers.
“We would be up there fighting with the top four teams. We would be up there with Celtic, Rangers and now Hearts.”
Alexandersson also stated his belief that Rangers’ new manager bounce can help them on Thursday.
“A new manager gives us a little different challenges in the preparations. We don’t really know what they will bring.”
So far in the Europa League, Brann have won once in two games. They find themselves third in the Eliteserien, having won 15 out of 24 games in the league.
Rangers will have to be at their best, especially considering how uncertainty has engulfed them in the last few weeks. They have lost their last two Europa League games and it is important to get some points on the board for Danny Rohl.
