AZ Alkmaar manager Pascal Jansen has insisted he’s held no contact with Rangers about the vacant manager’s position.
The Dutchman has been speaking to Voetbal International regarding his club and the current situation, as reports link him with a move to Ibrox.
Jansen has found himself named on the potential shortlist being drawn up by the Rangers board for their managerial position this week after the decision to sack Michael Beale.
The belief is that those in charge at the Scottish club are keen to hire a new manager as quickly as possible and Jansen, who was once linked with the Celtic job, has been named as a potential option after leading his side to second in the Eredivisie after seven games this season.
He’s considered a rising star in Dutch football, after leading Alkmaar to 88 wins in 145 games so far and third, fifth, and fourth in his four seasons in charge.
It is that which will have attracted Rangers, who need something of a restart following Beale’s disappointing ten months in charge at Ibrox.
They’re yet to speak to Jansen, though, at least according to the man himself, who is also unaware of contact between Rangers and Alkmaar.
“I don’t know if there has been contact with AZ, but there has been no contact with me,” he said.
“I also received it and received some messages from England, but I don’t know where it came from. It’s completely out of the question.”
