Despite making it back to the Scottish Premier League after a few years fighting their way back up from Scotland’s fourth-tier, Rangers FC still aren’t the club they used to be.

Having to work with a pretty much non existent budget (all of their arrivals have been on frees), the Scottish club started their return to the top tier with a draw at home to Hamilton Academical.

While not perfect, it remained a decent start at the Ibrox, which could yet see another arrival if Le10 Sport in France are to be believed.

The French media outlet suggest the Glasgow based club have made Rod Fanni, once of Marseille fame, a contract offer for the coming season.

The 34-year-old, capable of playing both at right-back and centre-back, now has to make the choice between the Scottish Premier League, a return to his former club Marseille or stay in the Middle-East, where he currently plays for Al Arabi in Qatar.

Of course, a move back to the south of France or a generous contract in Dubaï may seem nicer than going up to Glasgow, but Le10 Sport suggest the challenge presented by Rangers could be ‘enticing’.

Were the move to materialise, Fanni would be making a swift return to the UK, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Charlton, where he made 14 appearances, missing only three games.
