As Rangers fans might recall, prior to Michael Beale taking over, Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanted a player named Pablo Torre at Ibrox.
The young Spaniard was eventually bought by Barcelona for €5m, but his time at the La Liga side hasn’t exactly been what he expected, being used extremely sporadically by Xavi, with just eight appearances in all competitions.
That’s why there’s been talk that he could leave in the summer, albeit on loan, and there is now talk that Rangers could try their luck again, per Mundo Deportivo.
The change in managers hasn’t stopped the interest, it seems, with Beale clearly happy to work with Torre if he were to arrive following the success story of Malik Tillman.
Rangers’ hope would be to repeat that deal with the Spanish midfielder, and they could ‘try and sign him again’ after last summer’s failed attempt.
For now, though, Torre is trying to ignore what is going on, Rangers and all, and he ‘remains focused on ending the season’ with Barcelona in the best possible way, feeling confident enough that he can get some more minutes between now and the last day of the campaign.
